Nature Reserve Midden-Delfland

Van der Valk Hotel Delft A4 is located on the edge nature reserve Midden-Delfland. The area is a true oasis of ancient polder landscapes, green cycling and walking routes, and wonderful recreational opportunities. The area has been designated as a "Provincial Landscape." Midden-Delfland was the first area in the Netherlands to qualify for this title. It's all about keeping this valuable agricultural peat meadow landscape open and green amidst the large cities. Due to the central location between Delft, Schiedam and The Hague is the nature reserve a perfect base to escape the busy city life for a while. Walking and cycling

Midden-Delfland has beautiful areas that are ideal for a delightful walk or bike ride. The Hof van Delfland walking route network consists of no less than fourteen municipalities and has a length of 980 kilometers. You can create your own walking and cycling route using the junction system of Midden-Delfland. At the reception of Van der Valk Hotel Delft A4, you can find bike routes or possibly a rent a bike. For example, choose a route through the Zuidbuurt, a quintessentially Dutch landscape where you move along a dike road with monumental farms on either side. The Oeverbos is a wonderful place to cycle or walk through and gaze over the river Het Scheur. Recreating in Midden-Delfland

In the nature reserve Midden-Delfland, there are multiple recreational areas. From fishing to skating, no activity is too crazy in the nature reserve! For instance, you can take a refreshing dip in one of the water ponds at Kraaiennest or have a picnic in the cozy Krabbepark. On the many ditches and canals in the nature reserve, it is possible to sail and canoe. For this, whisper boats and canoes are available for rent at various locations, or choose a canal cruise. In addition, Midden-Delfland is rich in archaeology and cultural history. Museums in the area cherish the history of former residents and each tells its own location-based story. Museum De Schilpen tells the story of a former grocery store, and in Museum Het Tramstation, you can dive into the history of the Westlandse Stoomtramweg Maatschappij. Additionally, you can get plenty of delicious treats when you visit Midden-Delfland. It is full of local shops where you can get the tastiest dairy products and meats. Feeling hungry?
